Pick Your Path
Individual Journey
Individual Journey
The Equity and Racial Justice Center (ERJC) is designed as a resource for everyone—regardless of your background, role, or level of experience with equity and racial justice. We recognize that individuals bring different perspectives, levels of comfort, and prior knowledge to this work. That’s why we’ve intentionally created resources that meet you where you are in your culturally responsive learning journey.
One of the key features of the ERJC is our “Pick Your Path” experience. Through a brief self-assessment, you’ll receive a recommended learning path tailored to your current understanding and confidence level. Whether you are just beginning to explore these concepts or looking to deepen your practice, this personalized approach helps guide you toward meaningful growth.
Our goal is to support equity and racial justice as a lifelong learning journey. We aim to create a space where individuals can build both knowledge and confidence at a pace that feels accessible and supportive. By engaging with these resources, users can strengthen their ability to discuss cultural influences and responsiveness in thoughtful, informed, and respectful ways.
Ultimately, this work is about reflection and action, encouraging individuals to examine both their personal and professional practices through a culturally responsive, equitable, and socially just lens. By doing so, we foster environments that recognize, respect, and truly value all people.
Pick Your Path
Self-Study Learning Guide
After completing your individual journey using our "Pick Your Path" experience, your score will place you into one of three stages: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.
Some important notes on interpreting scores:
- No score is a judgment. Every stage represents important, meaningful work. The journey matters more than the stage.
- Scores may vary across domains. Review your responses by section (A-F) to identify where you are strongest and where you have the most growth opportunity.
- Individual and organizational scores often differ. A direct service provider may be at Stage 2 or 3 in their personal practice while working in a Stage 1 organization, or vice versa. Both are useful to know.
- Revisit annually. This is not a one-time assessment. The landscape of your work, your organization, and the communities you serve will change, and your score should too.
- Honesty is the only requirement. The value of this tool is entirely dependent on honest responses. If your team disagreed significantly on any question, that disagreement is worth a dedicated conversation.
Below, you can find individualized self-study learning guides for each stage. There are two learning paths, one for direct service providers and one for organizational leaders (executive directors, etc.)
